BankRemotely compares online banking accounts and shows the arithmetic behind every verdict. That is the whole remit.
Why it exists
The comparison pages that rank for these terms are largely the same page. They list the same accounts, describe them in the same terms, and stop short of the one thing a reader actually needs: who the account is wrong for. The omission is not laziness — it is the revenue model. A page that talks you out of opening something does not get paid.
We decided to accept the lower conversion rate and write the other half down. Every comparison here carries a mandatory “who this is bad for” column, and it applies to products we earn commission on exactly as it applies to the rest.
The second half of the remit is the arithmetic. Where a verdict rests on a calculation, the calculation is on the page or on its methodology page — not summarised, not asserted. A reader should be able to disagree with our conclusion using our own numbers.
Who writes it
An editorial desk rather than a personal byline, for a reason we set out in full: Swedish public tax records make a real byline a disclosure of home address and income. We will not invent a person to fill the gap either — there is no fictional analyst here and no stock-photo headshot.
The background behind the coverage, particularly the cross-border part: fifteen-plus years living outside the country of origin, running technical teams and their budgets, and personally holding accounts across several countries — opening them, being refused them, and paying to move money between them.

The relationship with The Escape Fund
Some of the tools here — the Coffee Line, the Hurdle Rule, the Permission Clock — are named rules from The Escape Fund, a YouTube channel that shares this site's arithmetic and its standards. Each episode's full working lives here as a receipts page.
They are the same editorial operation and separate brands. Neither is paid to say anything about the other, and the calculators read their constants from the same file the channel's charts are built from, so a number cannot say one thing on screen and something else here.
What this site will not do
- Recommend anything that has not survived the arithmetic in public. Including things that pay well.
- Sell ranking. Position on a comparison page is a function of the criteria stated on that page.
- Tune a calculator toward a product — in either direction. Where something genuinely helps we quantify the gain; where the thing that would help is not a product, we say that instead of reaching for the nearest link.
- Print a rate without a date on it. If a date looks old to you, it is old.
